the belle's baptism: decor, desserts, and diy details

Related posts, plus free printables: the Belle's baptism

Okay guys. Let's get on with the rest of the story. I still have to do supplier reviews -- perhaps some other time, in another post. For now, here are three stuff that I SUPER love about our party.

Decors
Expectation: Our idea was to cover the place with flowers, since we didn't have plans for the ceiling and walls. Our requests were to have some sort of flower arrangement on every table. For the table centerpiece, we asked for teapots as flower vases, with candles, and picture frames to display my daughter's cutey face. We were expecting a canopy of roses for the desserts table, while vines hanging from the ceiling should be above the cakes table. Also, every cake (because we had 5 cakes) should have roses; on top, side, and at the foot of each cake stand. We were to pay PHP8,000, or USD185.40, for all these and more.

Reality: It was still pretty. All our requests weren't executed, but we paid no additional (as in really ZERO), and they still allowed us to use their decors, such as the cutest set of jars, their bird cage, and a lot of other lovely decors. We even got to use their wishing tree as our guestbook. So, in the end, we got the party that we wanted (still dainty and chic), and it was big savings on our part. Which turned out very useful (read: [surprise!] bank charges -- re: housing). Lesson learned: everything happens for a reason. Thank you Father God!

P.S. Not in photo, we used the bird cage in the Gifts table to hold the cards a.k.a monetary gifts.

Cake and Desserts Table
What else could be more appropriate for a dainty chic event than pastel colored cakes? Ruffles, ombre, rosettes, and other piping techniques -- every design I got from Pinterest (thank you Pinterest!). Not only were they pretty, but also at an affordable price of PHP800 per cake, they were really surprisingly delish! I love anything sweet, so this is prolly me being biased. But I had my friends and relatives to attest that my "two thumbs up" can be counted.

Other than cakes, we also had a separate table for desserts. I pretty much decided to splurge on desserts. We spent PHP10,000 for the said table of the sweetest treats. That's already good for 60 persons, so I think it wasn't overpriced. Plus, we didn't have just any regular cupcakes -- we had cheesecake cupcakes! FTW! To enumerate, because I love putting everything in a list, here are the mouth-watering treats that we had for that day:

1. 60 pcs of cheesecake cupcakes (flavors were oreo cheesecake, blueberry cheesecake, and cookie dough cheesecake)
2. 60 pcs of sugar cookies, shaped as letters to spell out "ELLE" -- which we had as souvenirs
3. 60 pcs of pastel colored cake pops (flavors were vanilla and chocolate)
3. 60 pcs of french macarons (flavors were milk tea, pistachio, and dark side a.k.a dark chocolate)
4. marshmallows and popcorn good for 60 hungry heads

Anyhoo, let them pictures talk.

DIY Goodness and Activities
"Make a Headband" station, flower crowns and bow ties for Godparents, food labels, and other messages on frames (e.g. for the gifts table), "Dear Elle Belle" tags to hang on our wishing tree, Christening candles, and tags for wines (i.e. tokens for Godparents). We also had a "Lucky" jar and had the guests dropped their names for a chance to win a cupcake bouquet. BA. DUM. TSS.

To be honest, and I am proud to be saying this, I executed all our DIY plans. And with flying colors if I may say so myself. *patting myself on the back* Lesson learned: Better to invest on DIY -- whatever they turn out to be (good or bad), all the efforts will be worth it. You will look back thinking of how much you spent to achieve everything for your baby; a happy heart indeed.

P.S. I'm selling our "Make a Headband" station, bow ties, and flower crowns. Hit my mail!
